Cool King makes custom cooler bags and canvas gear in South Africa, for South African bakkies, trailers and boats. Every unit is cut, welded and sewn to a bed, a trailer or a deck size. Nothing here is a generic box off a shelf.
What the shop does
One thing, done to a measurement: cold transport for people who load meat, fish, ice and food onto a vehicle and need it to arrive the way it left.
The work starts with a size. A bakkie bed, a box trailer, a set of cattle rails or a boat deck gets measured, and the pattern is cut to it. The canvas is olive ripstop, the liner inside is welded food-safe PVC, and the two are made up as one unit rather than a bag dropped into a frame.
That is what the cold hold rests on. Packed with ice and closed under the cover, a load comes off the bed cold on the ice it left with, 12 to 24+ hours out depending on how the unit is insulated. It is the number this shop is willing to put in writing, and it is why the range is built around fit rather than volume.
The same canvas and the same welded liner go into the hunting gear: gun bags, cattle rail gun bags, travel bags, a carcass stretcher and the mobile bar. The catalogue runs to 12 products, most of them made in more than one size, and a custom cut on your own measurements is normal work rather than an exception.
